Description
This is a GAL chip programmed as an Atari MMU with part number CO61618.
There is nothing magic about this part, it is a GAL chip programmed with the Atari MMU equations provided by the Atari community. The original MMU was a PAL chip, and since a GAL chip is a superset of a PAL, GALs can be programmed to act like the original Atari chips. There are no compatibility concerns. All credit goes to the community and I offer this part as a service in case you are unable to program a GAL on your own.
The CO61618 is backwards compatible with the CO60609, so you can upgrade a CO60609 with this replacement.
This part is compatible with the following computers:
- Atari 65XE
- Atari 130XE
- Atari 600XL
- Atari 800XL
- Atari 800XE
- Atari 1200XL (uses a CO60609)
Atari part numbers use the typewriter character set where O and 0 are identical and so are I and 1. Therefore this part is sometimes referred to as C061816.
